Hopefully a pleasant surprise for you Steve.

All mounts and metal underneath are rust free and like being whacked with a hammer.

Underside shows surface dust only, perhaps the underside was sealed at some point.

Good choice with the defender. My 1989 is eying up this discos rear axle and engine. Until then the idea is to have the disco tag along with the defender on some offroad adventures.

yeah very impressive - looks like a good coating of underbody on it
    May have made the difference!

I did love the old disco - but after driving a 130 for 10 years I could never go back to anything shorter in wheelbase for fast dirt driving

The 130 must be nice and stable, I would have loved to of bought a 110 or 130 instead of this disco but then I'd get attached to it, spend loads of money on it and then be reluctant to let anyone else drive it. The whole point of this disco is to lend it out care free. My girlfriend loves driving the disco with the auto box, she is petite for the heavy defender clutch and driving position. So I hope the disco holds together for a while yet.

If you love adrenaline, try fast dirt in a 90!

Got a few more minutes on it today.

Cut off rotten box section. To replace it I will need to figure a way to fold metal sheet 90 degrees.

Outside and dash side hit with R.covert -> sand paper -> zinc primer/topcoat.

Tin snipped some .6mm galv sheet for the patch. Paint still soft so probably rivet it on another day......

Went with sikaflex 227, rivets and zinc coats.

Need to seal the top edge that started it all then hose test it.. Should be good.
