    Head gasket not flat question

    Hey all,
Is this an issue? Obviously its gonna leak oil if I leave it but can I get away with rtv?
If it's really not ok, should I buy new bolts for the head again since I've torqued them to 20nm + 180 degrees?
    Many thanks

No, you will definitely not get away with RTV. It will blow out pretty darn quick. Leaving it this way will defeat the point of doing the gasket in the first place. How has it ended up this way?

Did you have you head's hardness tested and the face skimmed prior to refitting? Did you use new bolts? The head bolts are only ever single use, they are designed to stretch when tightened down.

Sorry, bit harsh, but I wouldn't be happy with having mine that way.

Someone else with some more knowledge will pop in soon and make some more intelligible remarks.

No I didnt take the heads to the shop, I only have a motorbike for transport at the moment.
Im assuming gasket got snagged on the head as I placed it down, I got a bit excited and nutted everything up without really checking it. Used new bolts.
So now I need a half set of bolts and a gasket.
    Thanks for your quick reply.

All good mate. I'd personally replace the gasket completely, but that's up to you.

Have you got a copy of the RAVE service manual? The procedure for head gasket replacement is in there, there is also a post on here with a run through. Following either should keep you safe.

    Good luck with it.
