Hi All,
I'm doing the timing belf in a 300Tdi Auto Disco 1.
I can't find the slot in the flywheel for the locking pin.
Does the auto use the same pin as a manual? If not how do you lock the crank?
Thanks
Tony

Thanks John,
I wouldn't have found that.
This one's been fighting the whole way, I've spent a day and a half making crank tools to get past all the loctite on the crank bolt and harmonic balancer.
Hopefully it goes back together more easily than it came apart.
Tony
I knew that would be your answer 😇
I very nearly went and bought one!
When it fights all the way out, do you hold the harmonic balancer by hand? Or still need the holding tool?
And then a slight mod to the holder, and it became the puller, and the balancer took some pulling.
Tony
Mike has a few things to say about the job you are doing, Tony. I learned something about the seal vs pulley.
About 7:00 in. Harder on a Disco, just because of access.

Timing belt all done.
We had some fun and games, see thread in the tech chat re crank keyway.
Anyway, next to where the crank locking pin goes in, there is a large hole, that I assume gives access to something on the flex plate.
Should this have a cover? If not the bell housing will fill with mud and water.
This is the first auto I've played with.
Tony
Never done a D1 auto, but RAVE says that the flex plate/converter bolts are accessed through the starter hole. But, RAVE does not show this plate in its illustration either...
