    4.6 Transplant...A new lease of life !!

My 98 Disc 98 V8 ( 3.9) had a catastrophic engine failure just recently....rod punched out the side of the block !!

I am very fond of the old series 1 so decided to pursue the option of fitting a 4.6. I contacted Ian from TRS in SA.....he went through various options and we came up with an engine config that i liked...

    4.6
    Top Hat Liners
    Hi Comp Forged Pistons/Rings
    New rods
    Bearings
    Cam ( Hi torque)
    Matched /Flowed injectors
    and....so on...

Received the engine back and spent a couple of days re fitting ..

Well......The results have exceeded my expectations !!! What a transformation in the old girl !! The bottom end torque is superb...... it pulls like a freight train...very very happy.

Still running in, and if it improves even more over the next few thousand K,s i will be stunned..

100% worth every dollar invested in the 4.6!!

I was at low rpm behind a cattle truck coming home on the Great Alpine Road ...probably around 45kmh and 1500rpm, then all of a sudden a massive "rattle" ....oil light came on . I pulled over...started the engine to be met with a horrendous mechanical noise ...shut down and peered underneath. Couldn't spot anything then i noticed i could see the conrod !!!

Nothing, just a drop in replacement.
