Not that it stops anyone but I just thought i'd bring it up.

    Wrong AGAIN
In Victoria the law stipulates that the top of the Auxilary lights must not be mounted any higher than the lowest point of the windscreen.
Hence this is why pods on Rally cars are allowed. Rally cars come under the same ruleing as any car registered in Vic, whether is registered as a CH plate or Rally plate.

Strictly speaking mcrover may be wrong but, in reality, what he says is correct if we assume the bullbar is of normal height and level with the leading edge of the bonnet. Fitting lights there would put the top of the lights higher than the lowest point of the screen and thus make it unroadworthy..

I dont do RWC's but at trade school it was taught that it was over bonnet hight or no higher than 1m off the ground.

This may have changed and no I have no idea of what the regs are for rally cars but I do know that they deffinatly do have different rules and regs than road cars.

Weather or not there are basic rules and then revisions for motor racing Im not sure of so seems your the expert we will have to take your word for it.

But even saying all that, those lights are atleast 4" higher than the lowest part of the windscreen so even by your version of the rules they would still be illegal.

Just checked those IPF's of mine, I haven't run a straight edge across but I reckon the top of the lights are line ball with the bottom of the windscreen.

They don't obstruct my view either, That s probably because of the Disco's Command Driving Position (that's for you Blacknight, I know you like that expression)

guys it dosent matter an iota, i live in qld and have many mates that have the light's on top of the bull bar, above the roof on a light bar, below the bull bar, "what for i dont know" but thay do!!
and not one has been booked!, asked to remove!, or even blinked at, when we have been many many many times, pulled up at rbt's, road worthy checks, and even speeding fines stop's
so even though they say "because they dont ask it doesnt make it legal" there must be some merit in it yhea

    cheers

    ps love ur work dave
