If you are getting heaps of water into the footwell then it must be channeling it in somewhere if you follow me.

So I'd be thinking that possibly there is a rust hole in the water chamber thingo under the windsreen. Get a little torch and have a good look in there. Also pull the glovebox out and see if you can see where it is coming from.

You've already removed the inner guard and sealed that up so unlikely to be in that region. Did you seal up that plug behind the kick trim like Ron did?

Also does the carpet get wet from above or is it running in on the panels and going under the carpet and seeping up?

    yes very much !!

the water seems to be channeling down from right where the dash bolts to the side wall and down the panel on the inside ???

In that case I'd be checking the join of the water catcher under windscreen thingo (what is the name for that?) and where that big hole is that drains it between the inner and outer guard. Maybe there is a rust hole or dodgy sealant. Either that or the windscreen is leaking but didn't you look into that originally?

gotta love this duck weather for showing up the leaks!!

    i feel your pain..
my disco is like a duck pond at the moment & like you i am trying to track it down.
the front footwells on bith sides are getting run off into them so i am betting on the windscreen, although like yours i reckon it is coming from the firewll join also.
let me know if you have any more luck than me & together we will keep the silcone industry strong!!
oh yeah my defender leaks too but then..it's a defender!

Sounds like something that has been carried over from the old Rangies. Both my blue and project tight **** leak (one in the footwell, the other through the windscreen).

    Good luck in finding it.

heres what iv done in the past few weeks

1 resealed all the windscreen top, bottom, sides,

2 took pelenium cover off and checked the heater/aircon air intake and made up a plastic cover for it so if it was where the water was getting in ?,it wouldn't !!

3 took off front panels and, well you all no that one

so I'm now at a loss

    hey guys,

l was looking on the discoweb site and found this pic !!
(its the roof rail at the front, look at the gap in the roof)
could the leak be possibly coming through here?? and tracking its way down the window piller?
possibly a worn out sealing foam?

    cheers

Mine doesn't have roof rails so I don't know if that is a problem area or not. My money is still on the windscreen seal or beneath the windscreen somewhere.

I don't suppose it is a blocked overflowing air con unit is it?

how could it be a block overflow if it running down on the sides ?

i was looking at it in the rain (got soaked) today and was noticing that the water was running off the front the roof water channel, running about only 15cm down the front window channel and spilling over the edge of the side of the widow pillar.
lt was then was channeling straight into the door seal and down the front of the door seal channel if that makes sense! when l felt down and under the rubber door seal running down the front of the body in the door space it was very wet and still some water gathered down the seal and the seal around the area that the door bracket run into was soaked through! if that all makes sense, I'm wondering whether the water is forcing its way passed the (lets face it, old enough to be replaced) door seal and channeling its way into the hole around where the door bracket goes in heres a pic of where l mean

    cheers
