check the engine bay for the cruise control bladder, might be a small leak or the air line running from it may have perished from engine bay heat
I have found out that the cruise control will not work I can hear the rely under the dash when I select the master switch but when doing over the recomended speed it will not engage. What could be the cause I have checked the fuse and it's ok.
This for a 95 Discovery V8i

Ok I checked the vacum lines there ok the bladder thing on the throttle linkages is ok BUT if I take the line from the T piece and the vacum line that leads under the Jack there is no vacum hold and if I blow through it you can hear something that sounds like a duck I can breath in and out with no restrictions. Is this normal or does it indicate what ever is under the jack is faulty ?

Can someone check with there Landy Discovery so I know if I have to get a new part or not I don't know if it is normal or not it's very easy to check.
Just look around the window washer bottle for a T peice vacum line one comes from the fire wall one goes to the bladder on the throttle linkage and this one goes along the LHF gaurd down under the Jack. Remove this from your T peice and see if you can blow or suck air freely or if it has vacum hold or restricted when blowing air.
This will tell me if mine is stuffed or not.

Er, the D1 CC is notorious for crapping out. 7 out of 10 times it is the hoses - just replace em all as it is cheap enough. The other times it will be the pump.
There I said it!
All vacum lines have been checked and are ok no leaks I can hear the relay click on so it would seem to be the vacum motor as I pulled it out from it's small cavaty under the car jack in the engine bay I pulled the plastic cover off the motor and marked the shaft with black texter went for a drive got back home looked at the motor and the mark is still alined it hasn't budged an inch so I would say it's safe to say it's the vacum motor.
Ok I got around to replacing the CC computer and still no go so what should I be looking at now ?
I agree, I had the same problem I thought bugger crusie controll to expensive to fix. Any way I had a look at the bladder a few weeks ago it looked ok took the vacume hose off cleared it with water put it back sucked on the hose for a bit to see if the bladder was working all good then wallah it worked again
