Good News I Have Cruise Control

Did as mentioned pushed down the brake pedel and pulled the plunger out as far as it would go then released the brake pedel and heard only 2 or 3 clicks then checked the vacum from the engine bay to the cut-off switch and there was vacum. Took her on a drive and she engaged.

Thanks for all your help guys and this thread should now help others in the future.

What I mean is, if I am in cruise control mode & say, touch the brakes to slow down, if I hit the "resume" button nothing happens, I would have thought that it should reactivate the cruise control, accelerate to & then maintain the preset speed.

Well mine does not have a resume option button but I would think in your case it just might be the cruise control computer ?

    Hi,
Are you aware the cruise won't operate unless you are doing more than 60km/h?

it may be some wierd logic, I'll try this out on my way to work tommorow, I've only tried the resume when I'm on cruise mode, hit the res to cancel the cruise and then when I've got past the idiot doing 80km/h I hit res again and it takes me back upto cruising speed.

Ok it was short lived with my cruise control on the weekend on the way home from Ballarat my cruise control went eradic on me going on off all the time or once now and again but I have noticed it was in conjuction with my speedo doing the same as the needle on my speedo was eradic as well jumping up and down.

Could the speedo sensor on the transfer case be faulty ?

Yes, as it relies on a signal from the VSS. Probably find it's fallen apart at the seam which appears to be a common problem. Sometimes repairable after a good internal cleaning. If not replace it. Bit of a bugger of a thing to get at as some clown put a brake drum in the way.
