I did a temporary mount of one six years ago and it's still there.
Simply ran the power and aeriel leads up the 'A' pillar and wedged the radio in the map pocket/shelf above the sun visor - nice tight fit, no holes to drill and hasn't moved.

    G'day

We own a 98 tdi Disco series 1 and this is what we did:

I still haven't worked out how to post photos but can send them to your email if you want. I removed the map pocket / sunvisor arrangement and mounted the UHF radio (Uniden UH-028, full DIN sized with front mounted speaker) where I think the sunroof switch controls normally are, then ran the power and aerial cables through a couple of small holes behind the radio mount and under the roof lining over to the drivers side A pillar. Then down the A pillar and off to their respective locations. My aerial is a small whip base gutter mounted unity gain job. Does the job nicely.

    Cheers

    Goldey

I have not installed mine yet either but I think I might just tap into the plastic up in the roof near the light. IT would be easy to run cable there by the looks of it and keeps it out of the way. Another option that I don't feel I can afford atm is getting a center console made up for them which is about 300 I think.
