I have my gme tx3400 siliconed to the inside of the fuse cover lid (under wheel, lower part of dash) with the head unit just to the right of the cup holder and mic is also siliconed to the side of the console below the handbrake lever.

That'd be great. I'm in no rush but when you get the time I'd like to see it.

The head unit for my TX3400 is mounted under the dash (below the slide out cup holder thingy), sort of above the "how to use low range" sticker , but the speaker is somewhere in the driver's footwell (or my boots are talking to me) - I have NFI where the main unit is as it was already in the car. The mic I have mounted on the front of the ashtray.
Obviously if you're using a full DIN-sized unit this is no good - sorry if I missed if you said what the unit was...

Hi i have mounted under the Drivers seat in my first D1 but you can not see the display. So in my current D1 i have mounted my UHF between the visers see attached Photos can see for every day driving i just drop the hand piece off but for trips and 4wd it stays connected.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I suppose the night mode on the mirror stops working? No reason you couldn't mount the mic on the actual radio unit.

I have no problems with the mirror as the unit is up high enough and when its not in use i forget it is there a benifit of the high roof line of the disco.
My mic mount was a plastic one which broke and yes it woud be better mounted to the unit.

Thanks for posting the photos, that is exactly where mine is mounted as well. The only difference is the radio and I made up an angle piece of steel for the mic mount so it was easier to get to.

    Cheers

    Sorry Xav
can't take any photo's, camera isn't working..... and warranty has ran out......

4wd4fun has posted a photo, i have mounted mine in the same location...
I fixed my mic bracket to the side of the uhf(pass.side)

I unclipped the plastic cover above int. light and left mine off..
For a neater job you could drill a hole in this cover the same size as the wires/cable .
even run these through a grommet if you are fussy...
    cheers brett

Mick, I mounted mine up high between the sunvisors, the power source is allready there in the sunroof loom (the loom is there, even without a sunroof) so it works with the ignition switch. I then tucked the aerial cable under the lining and down the "A" pillar.
The mic bracket is attached to a bulldog clip I use to prevent papers, maps etc falling down when offroad.
I will post a pic tomorrow as its raining here presently
