And that looked so good, I copied it

Have just finished mounting my GME unit in the Disco:

I bought a $50 mic extension cable at the same time (used for truck installations) and ran the mic down the A pillar (opposite one to the Antenna lead in case of interference) and into dash at side of steering wheel:

I may re-mount the uhf unit rotated slightly to the right so that channel reading is easier on the go, the cables coming out the back would probably look neater too as they would have less distance to travel before dissapearing into the roof.

Kit came with free aerial ( a one piece 6db and a two piece 9db both seem to work well.) May stick a taller one on before the next road trip.

I have mounted mine the same, have an extension cable for the mike but ran it down to the left hand side of the gear shift console (on her side)

Mine is on the top of the centre of the dash offset as the GPS sits beside it.
the mike is attached to the front of the cup holder. I could not put mine between the sunvisors as my buttons for the duel sunroofs is there.

I put mine in the drivers side map pocket above the visor. I've got sunrooves, otherwise the middle would've been the spot.
I loosened the pocket and screwed the holder into the roof lining then did it all up and just slotted the unit in. I've got a nice slim GME 3220.

    i got my uniden here

doesn't get in the way of anything....the actual unit as this is a remote head is mounted on the back of my centre consol box and the wire from the remote head runs under the rubber under the window switch consol out through the vent on the back of the box and connects up

the mic is the perfect spot for off road as i drive with my right hand and talk on the mike with my left
