If you have a dual battery setup you may want to run a dedicated power supply from the second battery, so you can leave your radio on when your truck is off. Or use a relay switched by acc power, but powered by the second battery if you want it to turn off with the truck.

This is how I mounted my GME, wiring through the roof console and then across to the A Pillar. It is wired to the 2nd battery so that it can be left on with the ignition off.

    Regards

    The rain has stopped Mick,,,
The UHF can be turned on whilst the key is in the accessory position.
Up higher also prevents the controls dials being accidentally knocked around and I will drown before the radio gets wet...
I had thought about a dedicated power source from the 2nd battery but as the wiring is allready there I utilised it instead

    Sorry about the flash

    Here's mine.

Power is taken from the aux battery up the drivers side A pillar and the aerial cable runs up the pass side A pillar.

No the cable doesnt get in my way and yes it is a little bit hard to see what channel it is on but I rarely change channels while traveling,

Ive cut a hole in the bottom of the map pocket for the speaker but If I did it again I would put in an external speaker.

    Guys

Have just finished mounting my GME unit in the Disco:

I bought a $50 mic extension cable at the same time (used for truck installations) and ran the mic down the A pillar (opposite one to the Antenna lead in case of interference) and into dash at side of steering wheel:

I may re-mount the uhf unit rotated slightly to the right so that channel reading is easier on the go, the cables coming out the back would probably look neater too as they would have less distance to travel before dissapearing into the roof.

Kit came with free aerial ( a one piece 6db and a two piece 9db both seem to work well.) May stick a taller one on before the next road trip.

    Cheers

looking at NZOliver's pics I just learned I'm meant to have a cup holder, lol.

I'll have to order one in if they are still available. The last one seems to be missing but the slide is there

    Xav.

I ripped out my front interior light as it was playing up anyway. I made an opening for my UHF to fit in and fed the wires under the roof trim and the plastic vizor. Disco's look awesome with a roof set CB

I've done something totally different... How about one of these? http://www.gme.net.au/land/transceivers/tx3440.php
the main unit has no controls and can be hidden anywhere. You just need the the Mic - everything is on it.
