Help with 1994 purchase
Howdy people
I'm about to test drive a 1994 v8 discovery with 240,000 ks on the clock tomorrow.
Are there any issues that i should look out for in this model that may = more $ in the near future.
If the engine and tranny have been looked after what sort of ks should one expect these to last.
Any help would be apreciated...

The biggest question is... is it the last of the 91-94 model or the first of the updated 94-99 model?
I've got a base model V8 manual 94 update.
I think the biggest thing to check for other than general stuff would be coolant running down the front of the block from the head gaskets and backlash in the driveline.
A 1994 won't have the cross drilled input gear that connects the gearbox drive to the transfer case unless it has been repaired already. The splines will wear if not properly lubricated and it is a very expensive repair in a manual and less so in an auto. Although mine has a factory oil feed plate and perfect splines but don't know if that was fitted after purchase or not..

I would make sure it has a service history. There was a service bulletin put out for the manual's to have the lubrication problem fixed. If the vehicle was serviced by a dealer then it should have had this done. I understand the dealers marked the box with some sort of stamp, but I dont know what it was or where.

Hi mate welcome.
I bought a 94 V8 auto update ES model with 117k's.
Paid $5000 and spend $1200 on it including full gas conversion with 3 scuba tanks in back.
Has leather sunroof and everything works, even still has all the buttons on the radio.
Does have few oil leaks but hey.
The motors are good for 4-500000.
If looked after.
Buy cheap and spend some $ getting stuff right, that way you know whats been done.
Buy high but make sure it has perfect history.
All the best.
Oh and there are pleanty out there so don't rush it.

Also check for rust around alpine windows and lift the carpet in the drivers side and cargo area if possable.

Cracks in the firewall and nearby body/chassis mounts - can be a bit hard to see but can be done.
