    Rim choices

About 12 months ago i painted my rims Matt Black... Since then i have decided a gloss finish would give a better finish. Now should i be buying gloss black and going over it? or should i just buy the gloss and put a couple of coats of that over the matt black?

Ideally i would like a new set of Sunraysia rims with a max offset in black... but don't have the coin to support even this cheap mod ...

I am currently painting my rims gloss black. I Just got some wattyl killrust in gloss black, you dont need a primer for it.

I would just give your rims a bit of a sand and a good clean up then use the gloss black over the top.
I don't think that a clear gloss would work very well over matt

As Matt said, ive used Killrust black before and its very hardwearing and requires minimal preparation. Of course they will scratch over time, but then its easy to jst re-touch these and its all good

Killrust is good, i used it on my rims in flat black, my suggestion would be give them a light sand down to clean up the surface, rub them over with some thinners and give them a hit with killrust black gloss

As for other rims, im looking at getting some more at the moment, they will set me back around 80 or so each by the look of it, for d1 rims 2nd hand you can get them for about 400 a set, cheaper if you get lucky!

I put Dynamic steel rims on mine. Really, they're not all that much. Find something in the shed you're not using, ebay it, then use that money. That's what I've been doing. Amazing how much you're beloved junk can net you.

    Hi Boxer,

I saw you were selling some black rims a little while back..... I was temped to grab them.... did you take the mags off and put the steel rims on or was that another pjt.

The reason I ask is some wise old bloke once told me the steels ones can have slightly uncentered stud patterns. This causes a slight vobration in the steering gear all the way up to the wheel. That mags are the go.

How are you going if you have made the switch..?

    Jay
