Bugger the 33s, if ur gonna cut ur gaurds lift the bugger by 4 inches (2 in the suspension 2 in the body) and get a set of 37s!!! Then your Disco will be able to do this kinda stuff....... YouTube - mudsloth's Channel oh yeah, you may still need bigger suspension stops.

I know it's retail and you could probably get them a little cheaper but on there it says the extra large flares (which look 100% better than the standard ones) are $779 and standard are $540 so once you have paid $1k for your tyre and wheel package you would be at least $500 more out of pocket if not more to fit these flares if you fit them yourself.

If you don't care about looks and are going purely for capability then I would suggest a 2" body lift (don't forget the seat belt mount extensions), 2" suspension lift, trim the guards as much as you can before your cutting into the inner panels and then fit just rubber flexi flare which you can get off EBay for about $20 a metre and you will need 4.5 metres to do a disco from memory.

I'm not at all saying that limiting travel will make your disco crap off road but it does in some ways make it a bit less capable.

It would take a lot to make a rangie or disco crap off road

Good luck with it, I can't wait to see what you end up doing

I'm with you, except for the fact that the driveline would dissolve :P

37s needs axels, CVs etc etc

    Would look awesome though

The only thing i changed in the driveline with my 37s were the rear axles, i put maxi drives in. everything else is stock. So far no damage to anything else and the old girl gets to places no one else can, usually towing another car

Sweet, that's good to know! So many stories about "you must this, you must that". Looks lie it cops a hiding too going by the Youtube vids.

Has anyone got some pics of how much was removed from the guards??

I have a spring lift and offset rims, would like to see how much is cut. I made the mistake of trying to go out between getting the tyres and the lift, cut one of them I have hacked some off, but need more, and I dont want flairs so I want it looking fairly"ishly" neat and tidy. Well,,from a distance anyway
The damage at the front wheel was from an accident from before the bullbar, not from the wheels Thers still more travel left in these pics, and at speed you can hear them hitting on the front.

    Cheers, Chops,

P.S. We need to have a get together M/S

Nothing relieves stress like ripping into your panels with a thin angle grinder blade though :P
