    small question / hijack here...

i bought a set of bi xenon (hi/lo) for my prado, put them in, WOW, they were awesome! Lit up the whole street. And that is the problem. Because the reflectors were made for halogen globes, when I put in xenons any oncoming cars would be blinded. I left them in for a week then took them out scared that any copper coming the other way would stick a canary on my car straight away. I would love to put them in my disco but assumed it would be the same. So.......... anyone else put them in a D1 and not get flashed by people coming the other way??

From memory, I don't think there was any significant difference between the headlights on my previous D1 and the '02 D2 that I have now.

I never put a HID kit into the D1, but the D2 has had Hella Predators plus a HID biXenon kit fitted for about two years now. I have driven it between Perth & Kalgoorlie on many occasions, mostly at night, plus plenty of driving around in Perth in traffic.

Other than the first night I had them installed (it took me a couple of goes to get the adjustment right) - I have NEVER been flashed by oncoming traffic when on low beam. In fact, I've even spoken with truckies coming toward me out on the long straights between Coolgardie & Southern Cross and asked them if the lights were at all annoying to them - have been told more than once that, while they were "white" and quite bright, they were not annoying as they are adjusted properly, and do not "glare".

After having this lightimg set-up, I would never go back to conventional lighting.
    Cheers .........

zuni prados seem to have a very reflective light compared to a disco and they are prob adjusted to high so rather than aiming downward at the road they are going straight into everyones eyes

Sweet I will try them again in disco and see how they go. The lights in disco are pathetic, on the list was light upgrade of some sort (way down the list tho hehe)

Yep - my last 4 work vehicles were Prado's (lucky me ). One thing I've got to give them is that, out of the box, their headlights crap all over Disco's. All I ever did with the Prado's was ran slightly upgraded QH globes, and a decent set of driving lights (Rally 4000's - with a HID kit in them on the last Prado).

Toyota is getting quite good at providing decent lights in their vehicles (nothing like the Hi-Ace van I had when I had a Pilot Vehicle business). I recently bought SWMBO one of the new Camry's - the standard headlights in that thing are bloody phenomenal.
    Cheers .........
