I don't understand what your saying.... The flame trap on the Right rocker cover has a wire mesh wad inside, it prevents oil getting sucked up in the vacuum The system is the same as standard petrol, the hose is a vacuum hose where it draws oil fumes back into the plenum ( Aka like a PCV valve), I can't see how it can be a potential flame source unless you had a crank case fire, am I missing something.??????

sorry i will gett pics of everything talked about so i can show you guys where everything gose

i like the idea of injected gass tho

Sorry to semi-hijack a thread (possibly an old thread) but how do you tell if you've got gas injection or a traditional gas system? Mine just backfired this morning so I'm curious as to what I've got...perhaps the fact that it backfired means I've got a traditional gas system?

How much would an injection system cost to have it put in?

    yeah check it out yeah

i had a decent car accident on saturday when i at princess hwy and south gipp on ramp heading to fountian gate lights were red when they truned green just as i toook off the bastard blew up on gas i quickly changed to petty just as i got it starts some ****** slamed up the ass end bending the chassis forward my rear sway bar now sits on my coils

alot of the petrol gas car have this problem so its either gass or petty i only use gas now for freeway
i did use it to go to work and back but stud road has so many lights now

That's really crap! Surely if someone hit you in the back it's their fault no questions asked?

Someone told me a while ago they set their Disco up for gas mainly but used 98 premium in the petrol tank which could cope with the extra timing that gas likes and therefore would run well on both.

Backfiring has nothing to do with the grade of petrol you use. More than likely its an ignition problem.

as you are aware with lpg your ignition system needs to be 100%. once you have this sorted out make sure your timing is right and your vac advance and all is as it should be. I understand Air leaks are a problem with lpg as they cause lean running correct me if i am wrong anyone but a lean system is more likely to backfire. even if its lean state is not caused by an air leak however a blockage somewhere exists in the gas supply system , you have to ensure your converter is getting a good supply of hot water. most converters have drainage points for draining gunk that builds up in them wich if iirc to tafe was abbreviated to P.A.G (cant remember what it stood for) its very foul smelling oily substance and the smell stays on your fingers a long time. so for the average backyarder that does hes own oil changed draining the converter and gas filters further down the line often gets overlooked. Just something to think about , however lpg can be dangerous and should be played with by someone with a gas ticket. Off topic a bit I run mine on gas alot however i am running 12 degrees of timing advance so it goes great on gas the downside is you have to run premium otherwise it can ping a bit.

I heard something about the extra advance of timing to make gas run better and since I only have a 30 ltr petrol tank and the rest is gas I will happily run a further advance for gas and use top notch premium every time I run it on petrol.

Just how much of an advance can I run for gas so that it's great but still safe for premium 98 octane petrol?

12 degrees is enough, more isn't actually better. Just makes the engine run ragged on light load, ("hunt").
