Thread: My Disco 1 and a few queries

Hi all,

Just got a few minor queries about my disco 1 300tdi:

1 I'm having a few dramas fixing my air cond, ie not working. While obviously not necessary to be fixed immediately given it is a melb winter at the moment, i want it done before summer.

Last service the mech (Landrover bloke) reckons it needs to be pulled apart and fixed. I am thinking just get a used unit, save on labour costs. I found one on ebay specified being from a V8 94-98 model. I imagine the aircond is the same V8 or Tdi?

2 Battery vs Starter Motor: It is a cold Melb winter at the moment and the car is not starting on initial crank, almost hesitates then starts. Battery is about 1 year old but I have read on this site that it might be the starter motor? Starter motor is original, and disco has done 235K k/ms. The other thing is it is really small trips to work in the morning 10k/ms so am not sure battery getting a good charge?

My TDi had an aircon problem and it was to do with the bearing needing to be tapped back in and needed a replacement belt.
