    Alpine window speakers??????????

About to start on a new project on the disco. We have a set of 6x9 speakers that we are going to mount in alpine window cavity. At the moment thinking of using fiberglass or use ply wood cut and shaped to fit in cavity.Whats your thoughts on these materials which would be stronger and not warp. Will paint over windows to black them out. If anyone has tried speakers in alpine window before would love some input on how you did it and any pics of how it turned out.
    Thanks.

you dont rekon thevibrations will affect the windows or the seals i would deffintaly meke sure there was some good way of ventalating them so there isnt pressure build up but seems like a good idea

The plan is to have a series of holes near speakers to allow a bit of airflow which will be covered with cloth to hide holes

I agree. Surely the vibrations caused by daily driving will be worse than anything that a pair of speakers could ever generate?
Unless you intend putting 20,000 watts through them!

Seems like a lot of work for rear fill speakers though. Why don't you put them in the usual rear pillars?
Being so high up and firing at each other.... I don't think you get any benefit over the normal position either.

you want good sound in your disco put some good speakers up the front fit a sub in and just leave your rear speaker with something not so special in the rear pillars

I'd be more concerned about the leaks from the alpine windows ruining your speakers! (if it's anything like my Disco)

Already put new speakers front and back but just dont seem to fill the space and sounds a bit tinny.Cant fit anything bigger in the rear pillars as they interfere with the rear seats. No room in the back to fit a sub as we use the area for cargo and kids. So thought up in the alpine windows they are out of the way and wont get damaged. Also we wanted to block out the rear windows to keep some of the hot sun out of the disco. Not going to play doof doof music so the vibrations should not be any worse than driving on a corragated dirt road.
It does seem like alot of work just for speakers but nothing like a challenge.

Our disco must be a freak as the alpines dont leak. We are going to lift the rubbers inside and out and put extra silicone around them just to make sure.
