Thread: Alpine window speakers??????????

After trying many different positions to fit in to the pillar,we are going with the window option. Started on it this arvo got the speaker mountings cut out and shaped to fit in the window surround panel.While we are at will also fit a light to each side just so can see whats in the back.So no turning back now.

Seat sits about 100mm forward from the plastic shroud

Take photos please, why do you need light arent the factory lights enought to see with :-) My are so dim its hard to tell when they are on so I am interested in your outcome and testing on the track.

stu i have LED strip lights mounted up in my alpine windows as well....as I covered up the interior candle when I built by draw and subs....so they just run off the interior light wiring so still behave in the same manor.

I'm not sure I have a pic of mine though I will have a look

Heres how far we have got on the alpine window speakers.Just need to cover them.Need to sort out wiring over the weekend when we rip the old roof lining out and recover it.
Did at test run with the speakers in place and no probs with the windows vibrating. So all should be good

How are holding the ply in place? Also how are protecting the cone form sunlight damage as I am guess they aren't tested or built UV stable and how will they handle the heat from the sun being so high in the car. Dont want to sound negative just thinking of following your idea then I can fit more powerful speakers.

Have placed strips of timber glued and screwed to window trim. The infill panels we made are then screwed to the strips. To stop direct sunlight to speakers have painted the windows with black paint and will put some acoustic foam between speakers and windows. The speakers will be probably more protected than speakers in the rear parcel shelf of a car.

Thats good and the foam will help with window reverb. Well thought out and look forward to final pictures.
