Which bits specifically. There is a heap of stuff but I'm not typing all night in the name of a vague question.

The D2 is a generation up, and some parts will swap over but many wont. In the driveline the only parts that I can think of which are the same is the rear propshaft and associated parts. Other bits will swap, but they are not necessarily the same and compatibility isn't a given. eg the D2 LT230 has a different front flange, no speedo output, some have no CDL, and they have additional wiring/switch. The auto has changed from a 4HP22 to a 4HP22EH which has electronic control etc etc etc. Different front shafts, different axles, different shock mounts, same rear springs but different front springs
    Cheers

The rear has a watts linkage instead of a panhard.

No LandRover built it, but I think it was developed while owned by British Aerospace and built under BMW ownership

Land Rover promoted that the Discovery Series II had been modified with 720 'differences'.

The interior and exterior was re-worked to be less utilitarian, but it was still similar to the Series I.

Every body panel was new except the rear door outer skin.

The rear body was extended to improve load space but at the expense of added rear overhang

I know the load space interior length is extended, but I wonder if they actually added rear overhang.

With disco I, Land Rover shortened (from RRC) the load space by moving the rear door forward. But the rear body mounts are at the same position on the chassis as RRC.

So they had to extend the body 90mm behind the door to pick up the rear body mounts. They covered the extension with plastic - the whole lot cleverly designed to collect maximum dust and dirty your clothing when you reach inside the load space. See pic attached.

The chassis extends a further 70mm beyond the body extension for the rear bumper bar.

It would have been easy for Land Rover to make the disco I load space 100mm longer without affecting rear overhang in any way. Who knows what Land Rover were thinking.
