Swapping Range Rover parts onto a Discovery

G'day all, my first post as a Disco owner!
I still have my 3rd rangie, a '94 twin airbag model which remains my flagship, but having retired my bush vehicle (88 Rangie) earlier this year due to having driven it into the ground, I have just acquired a 98 Discovery as a replacement. I picked it up cheap due to a slipped liner in the motor, which works out well for me as I have a very good motor to put in it that i would otherwise have had no use for.
I'm about to start removing accessories from the old beast to put onto the discovery, e.g. winch, belly tanks, dual battery system, UHF and so on. Before I start work, I'm hoping to tap into the knowledge base a bit to find out what will work and what not to bother trying. So, a few questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with rather than wasting time with things that won't fit:
1; Will a bullbar from a range rover classic fit onto a discovery (no airbags on either vehicle)?
2; Are the coil springs interchangeable? (the RR has fairly new 2" lift coils all round)
3; I miss my fold-down armrests! Planning to swap the front seats for the RR seats which I'm sure won't be too difficult- does anyone know whether the rear seats from the rangie will fit?
4; Did all disco variants in 1998 have central locking? From the owners manual, it appears that this was standard. Mine does not have central locking, but I'm wondering whether it might have just been disabled due to cactus actuators or the like. Would the RR actuators fit?
5; Are the discovery alloys worth anything? I'd liketo put steel rims on it as they are easier to change with my R&R Beadbreaker. Should I expect to get more for the alloys than I would pay for steel rims, or would they be worth a straight swap, ??
    Probably enough for now.
    Pete

1; Yes, but It's not an exact match, doesn't wrap around the gaurds the same and sits into the grill, I think it looks like ****, but there is a few that have done it
    2; Yep
    3; Never done the swap
    4; Dunno
5; Which alloys? expect $5-600 for a set of the 5 spokey ones in good knick

I know that earlier rangie seats will not fit into the 98 disco, but maybe your 88 will!

They all had central locking. Poverty spec models operate from the driver's door lock. Remote central locking was not fitted to the poverty spec (perhaps it was optional).

The central locking plays up, usually the actuators are at fault - cheapest solution is new actuators from Jaycar (drivers unit is different because it operates the others).

The easiest fix for the central locking is to pull out all the actuators and buy the complete Jaycar or other generic kit and fit that.

The front seats are not a straight swap. I looked.
However the seat bases in the 94 Disco can be removed with four bolts per seat base to leave a flat floor. Maybe you can just remove the seats and bases and bolt in the complete seats and bases from the Rangie if they can also be removed in full.
    Otherwise make your own bases.

The rear seats look similar in their fixings so maybe. I'd be interested to know if they did.

You can pick up factory steel Disco rims cheaply. I paid $250 for my last set of six. Should be able to sell your mags for more than that if they are in good condition.

Thanks fellas, all very helpful info. The alloys are the 5-spoke, quite a nice rim, I'll look for some steel rims then sell the alloys. Sounds like i'd better put aside a day for the seat swap. the mounts of the rears look the same, I think the RR seats are probably thicker so might reduce the (already small) rear load space I spose. Geez I miss those fold-down armrests.
Figured it should have central locking. It has alloys and leather seats- who would order a new car with alloy rims and leather upholstery but not central locking- or cruise control for that matter? A remote kit from jaycar will be on the purchase list.
Figured the bullbar probably wouldn't look right. Might sell mine and look for a disco winch bar.
    Thanks again for the replies.

    Is it a diesel?

They didn't have cruise control at all.

Even my base model V8 94 model has cruise control although it would have been an option.

Nah, petrol. Might look for a cruise control kit too, as I have a commute of 85km each way.

I'm surprised how good the RR armrests are - I wouldn't be without them now so I hope they fit into your Disco OK.

Re the diesel..was it a no goer or an option..I would surely love to have it on my 96TDI. 5 trips across the Nullabor and other places as straight as a gun barrel tells me in most uncertain terms that I have my right leg always on the pedal.

Never on Aussie Tdi Discos AFAIK.

However you can retrofit the factory cruise.
