Any Ideas on Locking Doors problem?

Hi all I have a 98 TDI and up until yesterday I had issues with Locking the doors from the pad on my keys.
It ALWAYS unlocked but rarely locked unless I shut a door again and pulled my mouth to the left or right
But now it just won't lock with the pad on my keys.
All the doors WILL lock if I shut the door and turn the key but not through the pressing the key pad.

Does anyone know where I can start to sort this problem?? I have changed the battery on my keypad so that's not it it just doesn't seem to pick up the signal

    thanks for any help

Is it dependant on where your car is parked? If there are strong radio signals nearby they can interfere with the transmission from the fob to the vehicle. Does it happen all the time, or only in certain places?

I'd think about changing the battery in the fob. They aren't that expensive and quickly eliminates one possibility.

Edit: Should've put on my reading glasses on!

Thanks for the ideas but it seems to happen everywhere most of the time. I mean it can work sometimes and usually does after about 10 tries.
I thought that maybe the computer I put in the car might have something to do with it but I don't have wifi hooked up or any other radio device.
Could our mob phones have an effect do you think?

It could be that one leg of the micro switch has gone open circuit. I had to re-solder both my switches as they cracked where the pins touch the board.

    Cheers, David.

Have you got a 2nd key fob you can try?

Also - disconnect the computer you installed and try that.

OK, sorry bout the last idea - should have read a bit closer

I had issues when I replaced my battery in the fob. There is a synchornising process - from memory, you had to lock/unlock about 5 times in succession.

Yes it'll need sychronizing, 3 on /offs ,best done at front of car drivers side
when synchroed the indicators will flash to confirm
