    Water Allergy

    I have had this problem.....

When you take the plug of your MAF, the car will still run, I would bet you have water somewhere you haven't looked!

Mine would do the same thing, I bought some electrical grease, pulled everything apart, cleaned and packed them in grease...... since I took the time to do this, the Land Rover god's have been pleased.

I went through a "puddle"........ 4ft deep..lol, headlight's full of water, but didn't miss a beat! even with a Pod Filter on.

So spend around $20 and you should see this problem vanish, with your MAF, Im on this road now, firstly clean it properly, with MAF cleaner or contact cleaner, it will help for a while........ if you do need to replace the MAF Saab 900 turbo's use the same Lucas 5AM MAF..... and can be sourced much cheaper.

I think doing the above has been the best thing I could have done to my Disco, I alway's had issue's after water crossing's....... now, It's never a hassle, all for an hour or so and a few buck's

    Good luck

    Hi Syktlr

I think your on the money....... just disconnect the MAF, it will run really rich and cost you stack's in fuel, (just finished fixing this on mine) it should run with the air cleaner on and MAF off.... have you tried blasting the MAF with a carby cleaner or similar? ...... it will help, might even get through the silly season, all the best of luck

Get a hairdryer and dry your maf really well, might be some condensation causing the odd miss.

Have a look in the little hole that you see on the left through the flywire on the front.
It may be that when the filter got wet some fibres have lodged on the mass sensor.
You should be able to see two parallel wires in there. Remove the screen by popping out the holder.
Give it a good spray with electronic contact cleaner in the hole and let it dry.
