    Body Lifts

    Hi All,

You guys that have body lifts on your series ones, where did you get them, how big are they (25mm or 50mm), what did they cost and would you go the same kit again?

I had a look at the LRA body lift, but it seems a tad expensive. I put a Jeep Wrangler 2" on for $215 a few years back. But if thats what you pay for LR BLs, then I guess thats what you pay.....

Also where did you get your bullbars or bumpers modded to suit?

    Cheers

    Brett

    Thumbs up

The LRA kit is comprehensive, and you can see the money in it, although 65mm (2.5") is more than most people will need - unless you run 35" tyres.

Discos in std form crack the firewall around the mount (a bit hard to see, especially with sound proof padding in place) and the rear most mount, so putting in any sort of body lift is just going to make it worse.

Get your local Aluminum supply joint to slice up 10 x 30mm blocks from 40 or 50mm bar, drill holes to suit the +30mm body bolts you buy, un-bolt the radiator top mount brackets & re-drill the holes 30mm lower - the only tricky issue is the 4 x body stabilizer eye type bolts. I bought some longer bolts, cut the heads off, cut the threads off the eye bolts and welded to two together to end up with them 30mm longer than originals - but engineers might not be happy with that 'solution'.

Costs about $120 in blocks & bolts & about 4 to 5 hours all up to drill etc & fit.

Then, you can fit 33" with no problems (with a 2" spring lift as well, and some guard trimming!)

Yeah I am in agreeance, 2.5" seems a bit tall. I may order a kit from the UK, it has everything required on steel blocks, will just need to get the bull bar raised.

Don't be surprised if the postage works out more than the kit.

Keep your eyes open on the forums. There have been a couple of LRA lift kits for sale recently.
I just picked up a brand new one along with the chassis reinforcement plates for nearly 1/2 price.

Postage from one place is 45 pounds, total for the kit and postage is 320 AUD and for a bull bar mod, including cutting a winch into it is approx 650, so it is still an option I guess. Where the LRA is 760 from memory, and still have to get my winch cut into the bar anyway, so I assume it would push easily over the thousand dollar mark. But I will weigh it all up. It is MUCH easier to gett the LRA, but will call them today in regards to their compatibility with ARB bars.
