    one other is if the steering damper is OEM... the outer casing can rattle on the damper body?
    '95 130 dual cab fender (gone to a better universe)
    '10 130 dual cab fender (getting to know it's neurons)

    Yep I recently rewelded the outer cover back onto the end of the damper as it came off from vibration

    update

    I found the rattle .
    Its the harmonic balancer for the tailshaft?

    Its at the end of the steering damper,next to the tailshaft,just behind the transferbox--roughly centre of vehicle

    By damping harmonics, they being the frequency of vibration most likely to occur in the point where the balancer is.
    Its like sticking your finger on a tuning fork, which is vibrating from a sound conducted there from a speaker etc.
