Where to fit reversing camera on D2?

I have just bought a reversing camera for the D2. The type that mount on the top of the rego plate.
I forgot that the plate is off centre, so the image would be confusing if mounted there.
Has anyone got any ideas for a central location for the camera.
Seems to me me that mounting it inside the bumper is the only option, but I'm not keen on drilling a big hole through it.
    Cheers,
    Alan

I have seen them mounted on the rear door (tailgate) opening handle, underneath it where the latch to release the lock is.

Have seen them on prados in same spot so must work alright?

I would be concerned in regard to the spare tyre mounted on the back door blocking off some of the view from the camera.....I have a standard size wheel fitted there and after having a good look, the wheel sticks out a lot further than the number plate light fitting.

I don't know what sort of wide angle view you get from the camera but the wheel must block some of it off. Not much point in fitting the camera in a place where it cannot do the job you purchased it for.

Just a thought, but best have a real good look at the dimensions available there and re-think the issue of fitting through the back bumper.

    Cheers

You could make up a bracket to screw to the bumper underneath, directly above the tow-ball.

This would give you the best wide angle view, and make sure you can back up to the trailer first time, every time...

I have seen a few people mount them in the centre of the rear bumper, drilled a hole & mounted it there.
The bumper to remove is very simple, couple of clips for the lights & a few bolts & its off.

    Cheers.

This is where my camera is but I mounted it about 10mm under the Land Rover sign.

Its great where it is, you get a good view over the towball to line it up.

But...the only hassle is when you have a sticky tow hitch and pull up you can knock it off

This is where mine is mounted, about 40mm hole just above the towball so I can see to hitchup on my own.

I removed the number plate bracket on the camaera and made an aluminium angle plate. Double sided tape to the camera and the plate then plate to the bottom of the brake light inside.
The camera is always clean from mud and road spray and cant be tampered with. When the wiper goes on the camera view is cleaned!

    Cheers
