On a DII, the design of the factory wheel and wheel bearing hub is such that the full weight of the vehicle is borne by the hub centers - the wheel fits very snugly on the centers to transfer that weight to the tyres and to the ground.

The wheel lugs are simply to keep the wheel firmly on.

In this setup here, the wheel lugs are bearing the weight of the vehicle. This is not a good scenario - you wouldn't want to be crossing the Simpson over hundreds and thousands of corrugations. The wheel lugs may snap off.

Sorry, but these wheels don't belong on a Disco II.

hopefully your right because then dynamic wheels will be out the cost of repairing my car!

until then they are round, they hold the car up and keep it moving forwards so i think they are doing a stand up job! im pretty confident that the rockcrawlers are the same style being centred by the wheel nuts. If your concerned about it there are a number of companies that make universal hub spacers to fill that gap and do what you are claiming landrover designed them to do. But im not to concerned at this point...

Just my 2 cents, but if you don't want the 18's at all, go round to your nearest LR service bloke/dismantler and see if he's got a set of 16's you can swap him....I did that, he was more than happy to swap them as he was doing up a car to sell and wanted a bit more bling!

You needent worry about the large centres on steel wheels.Its only the alloys that rely on the hub for centralising.The original factory steels have the same large diameter centre hole as that white rim.
