I am assuming it's the same in QLD. But, what I was saying was that the biggest likelyhood of an expensive claim is when.if you knock someone over. The compensation costs can be horrendous, but that will be covered by CTP. So why are we paying so much for the extra insurance ? All the insurnace company is doing is covering you for damage to your own car and someone elses (if you are at fault). In the UK I had 3 cars with the same insurance company and paid around 400GBP for all 3, this included third party insurance.

    AAMI

AAMI with agreed value of $23,500 @ $438.89pa or $38.58pm, includes windscreen, listed nudge bar, tow pack & personal number plates. Standard Excess $400.00 plus numerous driver excesses from age 25 (if applicable). Also listed as not a daily driver. 2004 D2a V8 Auto S
Renewal came out and showed an increase so rang and questioned it, they went over the details and knocked it down to the monthly premium above.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

I assume that you have no lift or suspension modifications?? Other than a nudge bar, do you have any mods?

    Cheers,

    Franz

    Hi Franz,

No, no mods yet, don't even have the nudge bar any more so I guess that helps a bit but WA insurance is still quite cheap compared to other states.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Did my insurance Friday.

YOUI. $638pa. $25k agreed cover plus an extra $5000 worth of extras/accessories, $600 basic excess, $50 glass excess (as many windscreens per year as you want, $50 a hit). Full offroad coverage (no 4wd parks though ... fair enough). I quizzed them hard on the "offroad" thing, and they say that as long as the vehicle is being used as the manufacturer intended, it's covered. I asked about beach, dunes ... and I rolled it in the dunes ... covered. Barrington Tops, hard trails and wipe out the side and do panel damage. Covered. Driving aound the paddocks and hills at the dairy farm ... covered. I don't use it as a tuff truk, so that'll do me.

fwiw, AAMI offered full offroad cover, as long as there's a "street sign" on the track somewhere ... right!

I'm with AAMI fully comp: D2, 2002 Auto, td5. Market value of 12,500 or so. 16,350 with the add-ons; bullbar, driving lights, cb Radio, Dual battery, CDL, DP chip, roof racks, DVD player, tow bar. No mods, private use. Got the windscreen replacement for $50 too. It is stored behind a fence but not underdover/in garage.
Costs 117.60 a month or 1233.73 if I pay the entire amount for the year. Rating 1 for life, 2.5% safe driver discount.

So yeh, a bit more than I'm reading everywhere else.
