Car is near a chemist or an alarm that's messing with it.
Get him to push it away from where it's parked and it should be ok.

Or if it's a chemist, explain issue and get them to shut down alarm for 30 seconds. (often their anti theft things at the door)

That or the battery is on the way out in either fob or car or both.

If it is a transmission masking things in the vicinity the EKA can be used if he has this.

Does he know the EKA (Emergency Key Access) code? ie the left/right key turn sequence to deactivate the alarm.

Does the LED in the Key fob come on when the button is pressed? (could be a low battery in the Key)

I doubt he would know it, actually I dont know mine..Where do you find that out...
I am going to take him a battery and see what happens....he isnt parked near any shops , so dont think its that, but I will find out more when I get there..

Ean, the fob battery is a CR2032. The EKA is provided with the vehicle (it's also retrievable from the BCU using software, not that that helps). It's a 4 digit Hexadecimal code (numbers 1 thru 9 then A=10, B=11, C=12, D=13, E=14, F=15) for example 71A3. Instructions on how to use it are in the owner's handbook.

Sounding more and more like a flat battery, however, I did have my D2a just immobilise itself in the driveway one day. It was because of this I bought RovacomLite and that cleared it.

The EKA can be read with a Nanocom. Alternatively a dealer should be able to look it up using the VIN - assuming someone hasn't changed it.

Many thanks to those who replied, the car is now at home, think its more a case of a loose pos terminal than a flat battery..Those battery terminal leads are a pain to get tight on the battery post..does anyone have a trick to get a good connection..
