For all the above reasons. Airsprings are cheap & easy to replace. The ride is better. When you load up, it will self level ... not drag it's rse.

At the first sign of a failing airspring, change 'em both, to protect the compressor from working overtime, and enjoy!

... and fit a front swaybar disconnect for offroad to get better articulation in the front. The works pretty good with SLS.

all i need now is to find someon else with ACE who wants to go halves in this set

I was thinking of just putting one on mine. I'm told I only need the one even though I don't have ACE. Not sure how accurate this is though.

I was under the impression that you did not need disconnects with ace.. that the ace system relaxed and allowed further travel when low range was selected?
I thought the disconnects were an option more for non ace vehicles.. think I read this in an earlier thread regarding removal of sway bars....

yes and it was probably posted by myself. but after reading about the ACE system i still think there is a fair bit of restance while the system isnt active, and if i were to add a disconnect ide also have to disable that function with the nanocom, or remove the fuse.

thomas, you could just add one disconnect but youde have to see what the disconnected end does in its movement, if one ends attached to the diff still the other ''free'' end will copy the attached end.

Just been doing some updated research on air bags and found

Boss Air Suspension

They do a D2 sleeve air bag but have included a new setup witha triple convoluted bag. I emailed them to explain

The kit has a pair of our Triple Convoluted Boss 2603 Airbags, Top and Bottom steel mounting plates, and compression fittings to connect the original airline directly to them....."

Is this a solution to a 50mm lift capable air spring for SLS equipped D2's ?

Australian 4wd monthly canned the D2 in about 2001 because it felt that the rear end was out of sync with the front end as a result of bags at one end and coils at the other...they hated the handling, yet loved the handling of the poverty pack with coils. I know I know, just a mag report but it made me wonder at the time.

I love the coils - with a good set of shocks they handle very well. I recently put coil rites inside my rear springs because I have about 200kg downforce on the trailer coupling on my 21 foot boat...with 15 pounds in them it handles like a dream with no pitching.

Having said that if you have SLS and you like the ride, given that the costs of bags and compressor options have come down so much why not keep it. I wouldnt have been interested in air bag anything land rover years ago when it was all LR or the highway, but now with all the enthusiasts its cheap to keep it going and SLS is a sweet thing, and heaps of people seem to like the ride. I assume the ride is more absorbing than the coils. I would hope so cause my brother in law's 95 P38A sure isnt more cosseting than my coils.
