    Replacement D2 front driveshafts

    Hi Guys.
Can anybody give me a heads up on replacement front driveshafts for my D2???
Who supplies them and how much???
Want a heavy duty greaseable shaft.Mine has had greasable uni joints fitted in the past due to failure.Wanting to replace the shaft when she goes in for the clutch so I have a spare.
    Thanks
    Andrew

Hey Andy, I had mine rebuilt using 1310 greasable Hardie Spicer unis at the local driveshaft place, I think it was around the $250 mark.

Have done so with mine too Baz.
Was thinking that a new one goes on the D2,the old one becomes a spare in the camper trailer.

Yeah, Mark at Beechboro does a very reasonable swap with Hardie Spicer parts. I seem to remember $250 was around the mark.

    cheers

Driveshaft Balancing Services in Resource Wy Malaga.
Think this is who I used to deal with a few years back in Ossie Park. They custom made and repaired HD propshafts for us I used to sell for toymotas doing underground pit work.
    Worth a look.

    Cheers

Andy I got a quote from Tom Woods for a Slunnie spec one with a greaseable centre shaft on the double cardan (as well as greaseable everything else)delivered to Freo a few weeks ago and it was pretty competitive, I will dig the quote up but from memory it was about $350 ish delivered

Yeah about $350 US PLUS delivery....if you have std wheel size and don't do anything extreme a high end shaft is not required.

why splash out on a new one just to have a spare when you have already fixed the known problem? i sold the spare shaft i bought as did not think a spare was needed having greasable unis's fitted.

    I have larger tyres,235/85.
    I have a "strong chip"
I will be fitting a larger intercooler.
My camper trailer will be pretty close to 2 tonnes all up.
All of the above would increase the loading on the weak design.Ive already had the heavy duty greasable unis fitted. The centre eye is still standard and ungreasable.
Had a uni fail in the past, dont want it to happen again.
