    Dual battery

Hi, Im actually writing this for my oldies(coz im a tojo man) They bought a rotronics or similar dual battery management system from an ARB dealer in Tamworth and have had nothing but grief. The second battery does not seem to pick up charge. Now im guessing either the alternator is crap and has not enough oomph to charge a second battery or the system is not hooked up correctly. I use a smart solenoid(redarc) in my tojo and it works great. Can someone point me to a wiring diagram or pictures or something to show where to pick up the charge wire and/or information on what they have done in their Disco2 to get a dual system working??

    Thanks, Rob

    Welcome Rob(And your oldies).
I use a redarc on mine and pick up power from the main battery post.
Earth is direct to the bell housing.
I am sure others will know about the "rotronics" unit.
    Cheers, Kyle

Rob, Very possibly poorly installed, as MOST Rotronics stuff is pretty simple and foolproof. There are better battery management systems out there, BUT the Rotronics one should at least work.

Any chance we can get some pics, and an explanation of the system so we can help further?

If the system "sense" is connected to the alternator charge light, it wont work on a TD5 as it has a battery sensing alternator, it needs to be hooked up to an ignition live which is NOT live during engine cranking.

The D2's come with a 130amp alternator,, more than enough for several batteries

Further to Urban Panzer, while not the same unit, my sense wire is tapped into one of the fuses under the steering wheel that is only live in Position II on the ignition - rear wipe/wash I think.
