    Thanks, Rob.

Just a quick update on this ...

I've spoken to a cable manufacturer who is able to do the cable for a reasonable price - especially if I do bulk order. I'm not happy with the fittings that they use for the end of the outer though as it makes the cable longer than it needs to be and may end up being a bit tight to fit in the transmission tunnel. I have another cable manufacturer to contact who I hope can do a more compact cable.

    The research continues ...

If anyone in Melbourne wants a standard D2 lever as a swap unit I have one and will trade for a modest red

also have a D1 front output housing that should have most of the CDL bits you need to retro fit... and a non CDL D2 front output housing that came out of my 2002 Td5.

    PM if interested

Cab Sav - or a folding redback?? ....

After reading this thread, I crawled under my pristine 2002 TD5 and sure enough - no lever, no CDL bits - nada, nix, niffink!

Inquiries to date confirm that my model will need the T-Case removed and all the necessary bits installed then lever mechanism fitted after modification to the transmission hump and centre console.

Costs obtained to date range from $1,700 - 2,500 so I'm watching the outcome of awabbit6 work (Well done) very closely!!

In my case - would it be worth simply fitting air diff lockers front and rear for less cost and mechanical work??

I'd look again at the post above yours and get the D1 stuff and fit. Shouldn'tneed to remove tfr case to fit I'd have thought.

No point doing this without a CDL.
Plenty of explanations about this if you search - Good Oil I think!

    Hi Catmatt,

Mine was like yours 2002 with none of the internals. I started down the path on a D1 housing but managed to luck out on a D2a front output housing and lever. I can confirm that you only need the output housing with the locker parts and not a full transfer case - although they took the t/case out to do the fitting.

Now looks completely factory built and with the chip the best mods you can do.

If you have sketches that you want to turn into drawings to take to suppliers I could help you.

I would pay for a sent of blueprints to make some of the parts locally or by myself.

I have an early D2 and would like to do this mod.
