I tend to think so, depending on what type of 4WDing you want to do and what tyre size you want to run.
If its just good fire trail stuff, then I wouldn't bother getting anything.
If you want to get into harder stuff or to do it more regularly and are in a position to get rims and tyre, then the 16" rims are the way to go.
I would work out what size tyre you want to run first, and if it is a 265/75-16 or taller/wider then I'd look at a factory Disco2 or Range Rover P38 16x8" rim. If you are looking at a 265/75-16 or smaller then a Discovery2 16x7" rim.
My opinion is that the Land Rover alloy rims are better than the aftermarket rims as they are strong and they also have a very very good bead retaining lip on them. Of course the offset works very well also.
