    TJM bar and winches

    Hey guys,
I have a TJM bar ("Type 15 Steel" from their catalogue - see attached) and was wondering how a winch fits to this particular bar. Behind the reg plate are two rectangular slots, but has a vertical piece in between in the middle, so not sure how that works with the winch rope/wire coming out if it fits behind there, or would it need to be fitted on top of the bar (exposed)?

    Any ideas?
Any pics of already installed winches on this particular bar?
The text states "engineered for installation of most low mount winches".
What does this mean, if anything, in particular?

(I'm new to winches, can you tell...?!?!)

    Cheers all,

Have a look under the number plate where the bar angles backwards. You should see an area of steel that is designed to be removed to accomadate a low mount winch

    Keiren,

Ive got the same bar, with a 12,500lb winch attached.

    You need a winch cradle.

The "cut out" comes out and the cradle (with the wich), sits on the cross member at the back and held by long bolts.
The winch controller normally fits at the front under the bar.

I can take pics if you like, when I get a chance.

    Cheers

I've got the T15 bar on my D1, If it's the same you can fit up a 9500lb winch directly behind the bar without a cradle. the holes to the side are to get access to the clutch on the winch. I ran the cables for the controller up under the bonnet out of the way of the mud and water and to keep the air flow to the radiator. My winch is remote control so don't have to put the controller cable in but if I need to I just pop the bonnet.
    Cheers, David.

On this post I have a few pictures of the winch mounted in the bar. It was from before I moved the controler up under the bonnet. I have some posts on here somewhere of the controller moved but can't find them at the moment.
