    Td5 Running Rough

    G'Day All,

The Td5 started to run very rough this afternoon.

Nanocom throws up the following codes:
    27-05 - Injector 5 Peak Charge Long
    31-05 - Injector 5 Open circuit

Cleared the faults and restarted - still running rough and 31-05 comes up again.

Anyone know what these codes relate to and what the cause could be. I'm thinking possibly oil in the loom and I have a spare loom that I can fit.

I also get a squeal under acceleration - guessing either idler pulley or leaking exhaust manifold gasket?

    Any comments appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Franz

I think you are on the right track on both counts. Change or clean that loom and see what happens. Look for the soot and broken stud around the manifold.

    Cheers

Well, I started the car this morning and she sounded normal again. I changed the loom anyway and she runs fine at the moment. Only issue is when I rev the engine (whilst stationery) to about 3750 rpm she hunts a little - go over that and runs normally again. All other rev bands seem to be fine - hmmmm, what could this hunting be?

There is some soot around the front of the engine on the exhaust side. I'm wondering if this is just a gasket issue, if the manifold could be warped or as you say a broken stud. Are broken studs easy to replace? I guess if the manifold is warped I'll need to find someone to machine it.

Well, need to get get back from north eastern Victoria before undertaking any further repairs and hopefully make it without resorting to RACV Total Care (read flatbed)
