TJM Bar and (optional) winch cradle

OK, I've had a good search but can find nothing for the D2 (theres a few good posts for the D1).

We found out this weekend that a winch can only be fitted to a TJM Type 15 steel bar with the optional winch cradle.
First question (and a biggie!), does anyone have one knocking about that they fancy selling? Doubtful....

Or does anyone have any pics/dimensions/drawings/etc that I may be able to crib off to get one fabricated from, before I call TJM and order an overly priced chunk of metal?
I have someone offering to make one, but I need to supply all the info.

Any do's and dont's I should be aware of also?

    Cheers all,

Just picked my overly priced chunk of metal up from TJM in Brisbane last week. I havent even had a chance to unwrap it. I'll take a few pics and measurements on the weekend and post them for you.

I have a steel winch bar on my D2 - see avatar pic - but have never fitted the winch tray. From memory the winch tray bolts straight to the chassis rails whereas ARB bolts to the bar (from memory..).

Interestingly Overlander.com.au mag had this to say about TJM in its review of bullbars:

    "TJM
TJM produces bullbars for most makes and models, available in either steel or aluminium. TJM claims that its testing procedures, conducted at its own testing facilities and with the help of a university laboratory are second to none, making the TJM range hard to beat in terms of safety, even with SRS airbags. In addition to larger bullbars, TJM also produces a 'city bar', smaller and less obtrusive than some of the larger bullbars on the market. These bars have been specifically designed to protect the grille and bumper area of 4WDs in a city environment, making them ideal for the small SUV market."

There are some that say ARB are stronger (they stick out more which I dont like) but in terms of overall stuff the TJM winchbar is a nice bit of kit...I think it comes down to looks more than anything.

    Cheers

    This is very odd.
I was told by the TJM guys at the 4x4 show in Melbourne last month they no longer do a bar for the D2, but you can get one from ECB (who they have an interest in), but it can't handle a winch.
Also found out that ARB's D2 winch bar can only be fitted with up to a 9000lb Warn Winch, but no bigger.
So it seems that the options for bar plus winch are very limited for the D2.

I have a 12000lbs winch in my ARB, its not a warn one (yet!!), but its no bigger than say an XD9000.

tbh tho, a 9000lb winch is more than enough, if its not, then a pulley / snatch block can be used to double the pull, if that dont work you really are in trouble!!

    D2 Winch Bar

I have been looking around for one for a while and have located this company in the US that will freight world wide for $165 US which when you see the bars are $500 US makes them pretty good value. Dont know the legalaties but the price is certainly right.

    Have a look at www.Bottorf-Fabrication.com

Here are the pictures of the winch cradle, fitting instructions and a drawing of mine with some measurements.

    Steel is 5mm thick.

If you need more detail let me know.

    Good Luck

The TJM Steel bar is 'only' rated to 10000 lbs so is only 1000lbs better than the ARB.....

But as mentioned before if you are looking at pulling this much weight you really are stuck!!!!...
