Truetrac for the front

Thanks all, for the advice.

I now have the true trac for the front (although not installed yet) and have the finances sorted to put something on the back.

I'm still tossing up between Truetrac or Detroit locker, but not sure which way to go.:confused:

Does anyone have either of these setups, and if so, how do they go?

My personal thoughts for a 4 wheel ETC equipped vehicle like the D2 is TT front and rear. The ETC effectively almost locks the TT and is much kinder on halfshafts etc.

I have fitted a few D1's with twin TT's and even without traction control they transform the vehicle.

I have just fitted TT front and rear to my D2 ... I went TT instead of Detroit in the rear due to what JC said above .. much kinder than a full locker or unlocker like the Detroit ..

How the Truetracks are they on wet / snow and mudd ?

You'll need a dial indicator, measure backlash prior to dismantling, loctite, some goop for resealing, I prefer 3 bond and a gasket and some mechanical nous, as you have to preload the carrier bearings by feel, so an understanding of tapered roller bearings and how they should "feel", new carrier bearings, diff oil and beer:D

Oh and a home made C spanner is preferable for carrier bearing tensioners, but can be done with a pin punch or similar;)

Thanks for the tips Rovercare. Time to purchase a dial gauge perhaps.:cool: I don't suppose a vernier would do the job.
