    Solenoid Contacts

Having received good advice from the forum I have just changed both contacts and plunger . One contact was worn very thin and was causing problems. There were about 5 variations of plunger sizes, important to get the correct one. Total cost about $40.

From my experience, problems with these contacts are likely to point to earthing problems as well. Check particularly the engine/chassis earth - not sure where this is on yours. (a poor earth means that higher current is drawn, hence the abnormal wear on the contacts)
