recently I've notice a substantial squeak (chirping, much like drilling mild steel with a blunt drill bit) coming from under the body at aroun 1800 - 2200 RPM. It only happens when just past the "null zone" of acceleration. eg very light acceleration - so not much load on the tranny etc. Put the boot in and it stops. Take the foot off and it stops - it's just there when your pushing it lightly.
To accompany this there is a fairly strong shudder at low speed when engine braking. Eg going down a mild slope at around 20-30Km, let foot off and you get a good shudder.
It seems to disappear when thrown into N - so in my mind it's drive train related (as opposed to wheels). Bearings? Universals? Shafts? (eek)
I'm probably not able to get the Disco to a workshop for major work for a while (fund$) so I just want to figure out what exactly this is.. and more importantly how bad it is to keep driving on it.
As always.. thanks in advance for your thoughts and input!
Cheers

IMMEDIATELY STOP DRIVING UNTIL YOU HAVE INSPECTED THE FRONT TAILSHAFT FOR A FAILURE OF 1 OR MORE UNIVERSAL JOINTS!!!!!!!
When these let go, and they DO, they will destroy the side of the transmission.
Go outside, do it NOW!!!
