    SRS Airbag check at 10 years

    Hi all,
    Recently (like last week) purchased a 2000 Disco 2, and checking the service logs, I noticed that there is meant to be a ten yr check on the SRS airbags. It was due 2 months ago and hasn't been done.

    Any idea how important this is, and what it might cost?

    Is the back end of your disco sagging? Particularly in the morning when it has been sitting for a few hours

    If not should be okay still.

    Is the compressor getting louder or laboring a lot. Any slow leaks in the bags will mean the compressor is working harder to keep every thing up.

    Bags are relatively cheap (when ordered from UK or US) and are easy to install (do a search, lots of how to threads here) however I believe a compressor is expensive to replace if it burns out.

    Cheers

    Michael

    Congrtats on the purchase
    The SRS air bags (in the dash and steering wheel) are listed at 10 years in my book too
    I can't see as the passenger one would be an easy change, so I gave it all a miss.
    I havn't been woried about mine but I'll be watching to see what replies you get.
    Cheers, Kyle

    SRS = supplementary restraint systems
    SLS = Self Level Suspension

    One keeps your backside out of the dirt and the other stops you from knocking your head against the dash/steering wheel.

    I suppose you want me to go outside and check the manual to see if you are right?

    Technical Service Bulletin...

    I believe a LR Technical Service Bulletin pushed it out to 15 years.

    This has been discussed before as there are a few D1's getting around with airbags. Might be best to do a search.
