I am a newbie here but have done a few searches and can't find what im looking for .
I have recently purcahsed the new love in my life (2 weeks ago)
and have now noticed water leaking from the head gasket, and the tell tale signs of sticky valves etc, Where is the best place to take it in Perth to be fixed without being completely ripped off.
any help would be great Thanks.
Thanks for the quick reply im in dianella, so anywhere close would be nice.
so far i been quoted just shy of 3k for the job ... does this sound right ?
how many kays?
If you are going to do valves,
you might as well stick a new cam and followers in,,
that kills 3 V8 issues in one go.
headgasket leaks, valley cover gasket leaks, and a bit more GO!
then you need a low water monitor and your set.

170k it is leaking oil from the valley seal and rocker covers so i plan to solve them all in 1 go . I'd like to do all that pedro but my main setback is funds im limited to around 3k ..
sure i read about head gasket leaks,, not that that makes any difference to your budget![]()

To add up the Basic costs ...
Ring up the "Head Exchange" in Perth for a price on Reco heads
Ring "Rovercraft" for a head gasket set + head bolts
Add your labour at the appropriate Hourly rate
It will run close to your $ mark
If you have a look at the "WA AULROions group" section, will reveal a Life style mob and a Hardrover chappy
Cheers

good idea to replace head bolts with studs (even though you are short of money) as this will avoid future problems especially if you use a composite gasket. Avoid solid gaskets as they rust and leak after a while. Aslo avoid stretch bolts as the phenominal tension they create will lead to cracked liners
Agree best to do it all in one go - I piddled around and it just ended up costing more time and money down the track. Do it once and do it right and you'll get another 200,000ks out of it![]()
hahah 200+kms out of it without a problem is quite comical but would be nice.
yeah im thinking i maybe be stretching my money, but i'll try and do what i can all at once thus saving money in the long run. I'll be calling some people today over lunch thanks guys![]()
