    wheel nuts

    Hi Sharkee

It looks like the stainless steel
    covers for your wheel nuts
have been removed, if so check
    your wheel brace for size.

I noticed that too... Not a cheap thing to fix either. I doubt it would be easy to find the stainless caps for 20 wheel nuts and replacement nuts certainly aren't cheap, even from a wrecker!

That said, the wheel brace should still fit without it being too loose and I guess it's more an athestics thing at the end of the day.

Those are the D2a seven seat wheels. The D2a 5 seat ones are as pictured in the original post.

    Thanks Rod...

I've already fought that battle a few weeks ago when I was replacing my rotors and pads and have replaced my security nuts with standard nuts already.

Although I haven't replaced the spare wheel nut yet. I forgot to check as there's a soft wheel cover on it... Out of sight, out of mind.

They are D2 rims, from late 2000 build date to early 2002 build date released in Australia as 2001/2, notice the solid spoke, the D2a were similar but didn't have SOLID spoke.

That rim is fitted to my D2 mine is a 2001 model.

No - They were used on both the D2 AND D2a. Like I've said, on the D2a low spec 5 seat versions those rims in your 2nd photo were used. The rim in your top photo was used on the D2a low spec and "S" 7 seat versions.

Check out some photo's on carsales.

The lock nuts look the same as the normal nut just they will have a groove or 2 on the nut on the flat sections..If you have them the tool which looks like a socket is in the bag with the tyre lever and jack handles..

They are different locknuts for different years so make sure you get the same otherwise you will need a new tool as well..

I baught 5 standard nuts and when I go offroad I remove the locknuts and put the standard ones on , but keep the locknuts on in suburbia..

Thanks Ean I have'nt come across the toolbag yet where is it located

On mine on the inside of the cargo door(backdoor) there is a hardcase pocket, the bag is in there and it has the jack handles, locknut tool, wheel brace and some pretty average looking wheel chocs..

I thought it was standard that all D2 had it..

    Cheers Ean
