    clutch problems

    ok i have a problem.

last week my d2 td5 snapped the clutch fork only 8 weeks after having a new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and bearing fitted. now after having the fork, and slave cyclinder replaced the workshop cant get reverse, but can get it in if they stop the engine and it will drive in it. all other gears are fine. anyones thoughts?

p.s i was not in reverse when the fork snapped.

Had same problem years ago in a HK holden 3 speed. It was a reverese locking pin fell out. Did you have a pressed metal or cast iorn clutch fork. My cast one looks pretty difficult to break. I have heard the old pressed ones wore out and had to be replaced when you did the clutch.

i think the long term fix is to weld plate over the back of the new fork to stengthen it.
Keith I'd like to be able to offer a suggestion but sadly i'm not too hot with gearboxes.
I feel your pain though, pulling a gearbox out isnt the most fun job in the world.

HOW did the clutch fork break??? They are solid cast in The Td5, same as D1 RRC V8 etc. Not like the useless pressed metal number in the Tdi...
And yes, sometimes they need a bleed afterward.

    problems contuine

well the problems contuine and seem to be gettting worse.........

after taking the boxes out again and checking everything it seams that we are still having the same trouble with selecting gears. we have bleed the system and even put a packer in to see if the slave may have had a short travel issue?

and not the temp light it on the gearbox....

    anythoughts? ???

p.s justin the rod from the slave pushed a hole though the fork.
