Wading plug hole. Fit a plug only before entering deep water. Otherwise it's there to let the oil leaks out.
I was looking for tranfer case breather tube and found possible a missing on the gearbox close to engine oil sump.
So I checked RAVE it looks like it is suppose to be no bolt there.
I was just wondering what is this hole for and is it safe when river crossing?

I do not know about the D2 box but the earlier LT95 has a spot near the hole where the plug screws in for storage.
The plug should not be left in as it acts as a drain for the bell housing. Only put it in when going offroad (or onroad in floods) where you are likely to be fording.

I dont think putting a bolt in there will help anythign tbh, there is another "threadless" hole into the bell housing a few inches further forward.
