Likely in that case a head gasket. To remove the inlet manifold the top half needs to come off first. Just undo the bolts down the middle. There is a coil pack bracket at the back of the engine that will have to be undone from the manifold and bent slightly backwards. Then access to the bottom half is easy.
For determining gasket blow-outs I use a strip of paper held near the suspect joint and watch it as I rev the engine.

- like a valve leaking? If its a head gasket its no where near oil or water and no obvious power loss - spoke to Wilf Chambers in Osbourne Park and he said he had one 3.9 V8 with a pin hole in the head leaking combustion pressure to atmosphere????
