    Another oil leak

    Gday All,

Got home from sea to find numerous leaks on the TD5 again, simple things like centrifigal filter bolts not tight enough, but 1 leak has me baffled.

I have oil dripping from under the Alternater, but it doesnt seem to be coming from above, and I cant seem to see how it can get there..

Its not coming from the rocker cover or cam plug, just seems to be on the frame at the bottom of the alternater and on the adjuster underneath the alt..

Any one had this or got any idea's..

    Thanks and Cheers Ean

mine has oil seeping from the sump gasket just under the alternator, so it's sump off next oil change.

    Gday Roger,

Its not the sump gasket, changed mine just before we did the canning trip, but didnt do it properly and it still weeps just a smidge from the rear of the sump..

Looking like it must be the Vacc pump, but will check the I/C hose as that has leaked before from where the EGR was removed..

Hope all is well and the family are good..You haven't been out Wiluna way getting some top shelf for chrissy have you?

Mine leaked from the oil return pipe from the vacuum pump. It is a really awkward pipe to fit when installing the alternator & must have somehow got damaged.

Its actually a leaking pipe on the steering box, where 2 pipes had rubbed together and that one just happens to be a pressure pipe so it emptied the Power steering resouvior in minutes..

I did post a thread on it and its a bugger of a replacement job..

    Cheers Ean
