Yes, you sort of can control it. This was sort of touched on in an earlier post. I have a 99 D2 so not sure about D2a. If you engage centre diff lock and turn off the motor then on again you will have turned off the TC. I have fitted a cable to engage my diff lock so I had to cut a wire to the ECU to prevent turning off the TC. I guess you could do the same except fit a switch to this cut wire to the ECU in the passenger foot well. A search will turn up which wire that gets cut but if you are having difficulty sorting this out then PM me. Again this only applies if you are using the centre diff lock in an early D2.
