    Replacement exhaust manifold td5

Have the td5 at a mates place who has removed the exhaust manifold and it is badly warped, around 3mm and has recommended replacing it.
Apart from OEM at $800 plus, who else sells replacement exhaust manifolds for the td5 ?

try the usual parts places I've used (no affiliations) British Offroad in QLD, Triumph Rover Spares in SA, many more if you search. Mine cost $125 machined ready to fit.

At 3mm it can be machined, but that will require a bit of the webbing removed to clear the coolant plug on the side of the head. The manifold will however have to be tossed if it happens again. on the other hand, TRS in Adelaide sells ready machined used manifolds. (08)83846933.

Thought someone would offer a correctly ported and tuned steel one by now. There's a lot of improvements to be made like matched turbo and mount face sizes, the turbo gasket had a good 3mm of manifold sitting inside it's inner profile and the placement of #2 & 4 isn't really ideal. It's shorter than #3 runner but twice the distance to the collector.
Uneven and short length runners are important for producing torque and makes a difference to turbo spoolup times but need to be gradual.
Shame no one casts a ductile one either, this would cope better with movement, be more machinable and wouldn't break so many studs or crack for that matter.
I see the TD5 Alive unit doesn't have webs removed..... Surprised they haven't modded them.....

    Search "De Stressing TD5 Manifold"
Mine had warped and popped studs.I did the de-stress and it returned to almost flat.
I simply fitted a new gasket, studs and havent had an issue since.

    Cheers

OK I've had mine refaced twice, the second time I ground the webbing out and had the studs replaced with 300TDi studs which are 10mm, since this mod have had no issues.

OK here's a link to the fix

    This is what I did.

We did the same to Dads d2a a few months back. He had about a 5mm warp on one end, and about 3mm on the other. Once we cut the webbing, it came down to about .5mm on both ends. Then drilled out the holes slightly, ran the manifold over a bit of emery and glass, popped in new studs and gaskets and she's as good as new.
